When choosing a Jeep lift kit, you should also consider the height you are aiming for. Doing so to too much might affect the stability of your vehicle, especially when you are driving on off-roads. There are a lot of options to choose from and it might be difficult for you to decide if you are not sure about the result you are buying the lift.

My family owns a car shop, and have always warned me to stay away from jeeps, as they have non stop mechanical trouble. My wife's dream car is a Jeep wrangler, but I've grown up with a bias against them.
When I worked there, there were a lot of mid 90's to early 2000's jeeps coming in. Almost all of them were automatics having transmission issues. Is this something that affects newer models?
We would be buying something fairly new (post 2010), with fairly low miles on it. I want to get one, as my wife's car is fairly old and starting to require a lot of maintenance, but I don't want to trade one money pit for another that comes with payments.
I know that the people here love jeeps. My question is, what is the worst part about owning one?
Thanks.
Edit: I should add that something I love about Jeeps is the subculture they've created. I really like the kinship between most jeep owners. Thanks for all the responses, everyone. You've assuaged many of my doubts, and my wife and I will start seriously looking into getting a jeep.
